This site is a demonstration site designed to serve two seperate needs. First, to demonstrate how easily US SAILING Regatta Network's event management and membership management can be integrated into a typical yacht club website while keeping the web branding for the club. And second, several clubs have asked for our help to get their club websites with a common thread of wanting: - The ability to easily add, edit or change stories, content and or calendar events.
- A secure "members only" area with specific calendar and content items.
- The ability to share the development of new articles, and events without waiting for the "webmaster" bottleneck
To accomplish this, YachtClubDemo.com uses Joomla, an open source content managment system. Joomla! is different from the normal models for portal software. For a start, it's not complicated. Joomla! has been developed for the masses. It's licensed under the GNU/GPL license, easy to install and administer and reliable. Joomla! doesn't even require the user or administrator of the system to know HTML to operate it once it's up and running. To log-in as the Commodore: username: Commodore password: bigshot Once logged in, click the Pencil icon next to the Commodore's Corner story title, and a simple WYSIWYG editor will open. Adding/Editing content is just that easy. There are levels of content contributions, so the commodore and/or web administrator for the club can review articles before they are made available to the general public. It is also possible to publish "member-only" content that is not available to the public. To log in as a regular menu, log out as the Commodore, and log in as username: guest password: guest |
